Bike Week: Day 3

On Sunday KJ and I did what is currently our longest ride of the year. Over 32 miles on the Yough Trail, from the Greenock ballfield to Cedar Creek Park and back. Up until this point, our longest ride was less than 21 miles, so this is a major step up. This was something of a treat, because we actually drove to the trail rather than starting from the house. Because we were leaving early, we included "Lunchables" for our lunch break on the trail. These things are really handy, and they're a treat for the kids.

So Bike Week so far is:

8/15 9.03 miles Blue Slide Park
8/16 15.28 miles Schenley Park
8/17 32.67 miles Yough Trail

For a total 0f 56.98 miles.

Somebody told me about this blog today, and I'm glad they did. I have an autistic eight-year-old, and our big achievement this summer was getting him from shedding the training wheels in May, to biking seven miles yesterday. We're exploring the Panhandle Trail that starts in Collier and runs through Washington County to Colliers, WVa. Nice trail, flat, and not crowded.

Welcome Rich! We rode the Panhandle Trail for the first time this year. We start a Walker's Mill and ride to roughly Bulger, which is the highest point on the trail, and makes for a 24-25 mile round trip. Don't know if I'd consider it "flat". The ride west-bound is definitely slower than the ride back. I definitely like the trail, and people we've met seem uniformly friendly. If you see a blue and silver tandem out there, it is probably us...
