Today's ride wasn't anything fancy, a simple ride to the Frick Park Parklet (also known locally as "Blue Slide Park". The park was very empty, just a few nannies and their charges. KJ had a great time, having the equipment to himself. As tall as he is, he stil insiste on trying one of the toddler slides.

Paul, My now-nine-year-old autistic boy, typical six-year-old, and I -- usually accompanied by my wife -- have knocked out the whole Montour Trail this spring (in eight rides, total, of 8-14 miles each, round trip), and started on the way toward conquest of the Panhandle Trail. Once we're done with that, we'll start on the Great Allegheny Passage.
Someone should start a families-with-autism biking club, if there isn't one already.
Hi Rich
Thanks for the comment. That I am aware of, there isn't a club like that anywhere in the country. It might be an interesting thing to try some time on one of the trails...
When you say you did the entire Montour Trail, do you mean from Coraopolis to Clairton? We've done from Coraopolis to Hendersonville in as little as two segments (Coraopolis to Boggs, and Boggs to Hendersonville). We've done the first 12 miles of the Panhandle Trail. On the Yough Trail we've covered from Boston to Connellsville in as little as two segments (Boston to Cedar Creek Park, and Cedar Creek Park to Connellsville). We've also driven to Somerset and done Rockwood to Meyersdale (great scenery...).
Thanks again for your comment.
Paul
Sorry so long in responding.
We did all of the Montour from the Bethel Park end to Coraopolis, but not the little pieces out toward Clairton. We seem to be good for 6 or 7 miles out, then back, in a given day at this point. We've done a few miles of the Great Allegheny Passage around Rockwood, and once we're done conquering the Panhandle that's our next target. I get more excited about finishing trails than Zach does, but hey, I need motivation, too, right?
